More than 400 experts will gather in Essen this September for the DVS Congress 2025, held alongside the global trade fair SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN. The program will highlight key trends in joining technologies and connected manufacturing. A keynote by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Schilp from the University of Augsburg will open the event, focusing on Process Data Twins (PDTs)—a promising technology for driving digital components in smart production environments.

The two-day congress includes dual presentation tracks covering topics from steel and shipbuilding to quality assurance, plus real-world case studies from industry players. There’s also room for manufacturers to showcase innovations across the entire value chain. Informal networking during coffee breaks, the DVS Science Slam, and a party hosted by the DVS Young Professionals round out the experience.

Importantly for the welding community, DVS Congress 2025 arrives at a time when the sector is showing resilience. In 2023, the welding industry recorded a 9.9% increase in production value. Despite economic pressure, the industry is pushing forward with growth, innovation, and a sharp focus on challenges like energy transition, sustainability, and automation. This congress looks like a timely checkpoint for where welding heads next.
